Wired and Wireless Microphones for hire.

Whatever your application, Playback can source and supply microphones to suit. Lapel/lavalier mics for TV interviews, wireless handhelds for vocalists or Q&A sessions at the AGM, a full range of drum mics, straightforward mic-on-a-stand for weddings and functions, boundary-effect microphones for boardroom AV installations, sensitive condenser mics for studio recording applications, miniature condenser mics, and gooseneck microphones for use on podiums and desks.

Feedback supression systems and auto-mixers

Along with microphones and amplifiers comes an uninvited guest: audio feedback, recognisable as that horrible whistling sound that can cut through any atmosphere and make even the most ebullient announcer feel sheepish. Also known as the Larsen effect, a great deal can be done to prevent it by the judicious use of equalizers, ringing out the system, and careful positioning of mics and speakers. Continuous adjustment of the system is necessary to compensate for the air temperature change in the venue caused by the arrival of the audience. Sound travels measurably faster as the air temperature increases, so the frequency of feedback (and multiples/submultiples thereof) will shift downward since the distance between mics and speakers remains constant. An additional layer of protection is offered by an automated feedback reduction system, which constantly monitors the output signal and either shifts the feedback frequency (not suitable for all applications) or applies a sharp adaptive notch-filter to the offending frequency.
